01 – The Challenge

Resumes weren't telling the whole story.

Like many manufacturers, PRL Industries faces strong demand for skilled trades talent — especially machinists and welders. As the company grows, identifying the right candidates quickly and confidently has become increasingly important.

Tammy Marks, PRL’s HR & EHS Compliance Specialist, oversees hiring and works closely with operations leaders to evaluate candidates. Traditional methods like resumes, job boards, job fairs, and interviews generate applicants, but often provide limited insight into how well someone is likely to perform once hired.

"You can learn a lot from a resume, but it doesn't always tell you how someone will perform in the role or fit within the team."

02 – The Solution

A score before the interview, not a guess after it.

PRL implemented TEQ Connect’s Total EmployAbility™ assessment platform to bring deeper candidate insight into its hiring process. Today, the platform is used before interviews begin, giving HR and hiring managers a clearer read on candidates before investing significant time in the interview itself.

Through structured candidate questionnaires and scoring insights, Total EmployAbility™ adds a new layer of hiring intelligence — helping PRL evaluate candidates more consistently and with greater confidence.

03 – The impact

Better visibility. Stronger hiring conversations.

According to Tammy, the Total EmployAbility™ scorecard helps PRL evaluate candidates more holistically and gives hiring managers a clearer understanding of each applicant’s potential. The result: more productive hiring discussions, less time self-assessing candidates, and stronger hiring recommendations across the team.

04 – Partnership + Collaboration

Responsive, hands-on support from day one.

During early implementation, PRL encountered integration challenges with its HR system. Tammy noted that the TEQ Connect team remained responsive and collaborative throughout the process.

"The TEQ Connect team was always willing to help and had a great attitude about working through the challenges with us. They were responsive and engaged throughout the process."

05 – The Bottom Line

Stronger conviction on every skilled-trade hire.

By applying Total EmployAbility™ insights before interviews begin, PRL Industries is strengthening its ability to identify high-potential candidates and make more confident hiring decisions for critical skilled-trade roles.
